Let floor marking and floor tape show you the way
Bring clarity and order to your warehouse
What is floor marking?
Floor marking in a warehouse or distribution centre often consists of several components, ranging from floor labels and floor frames to floor tape, warning labels and floor marking shapes. The use of floor marking is not merely a necessity for a well-organised working environment, but in most cases it is a mandatory part of safety regulations.
What types of floor marking can you order?
ONE2ID can supply various types of floor shape pieces and floor tape for marking your warehouse floors. Below you will find an overview of all the floor pieces we can supply, including corner pieces (L-pieces), T-pieces, footsteps, floor stickers with pictograms and icons, and warning labels. These particular floor marking pieces are made of a sturdy PVC with a strong adhesive strength, so you can be sure they will remain put on the warehouse floor for a long time. You can easily mount the floor shapes on the floor to mark e.g. pallet storage locations and you can also quickly remove them again if the locations change.

Introduce colour to your warehouse floor
Within the logistics industry, you must comply with various rules and regulations to ensure the safety and health of your employees. One of these regulations is ISO 7010, the European standard for graphic symbols, safety signs and colours. To comply with this ISO standard, you can order the floor shape pieces in our product range not only in yellow, but also in white, red, green, blue, orange, black.
Why use floor marking and floor tape?
Floor marking is versatile, easy to install and available in a variety of shapes and colours that comply with European standard ISO 7010. For example, you can use corner pieces (L-shapes) along with oval shapes to delimite and mark your bulk storage locations, footsteps to indicate footpaths, and arrows combined with floor tape to indicate specific walking or driving directions. There are three main reasons why logistics managers use floor marking and floor tape.
Safety
You can use floor marking and floor tape to separate pedestrian walkways from traffic lanes allocated to reach trucks.
When your warehouse floors are properly marked, your employees can clearly distinguish which areas are meant for reach trucks and which for pedestrian traffic, thereby reducing the risk of work-related accidents. To mark your floor, you can use different shaped pieces in various colours, such as arrows, footsteps and anti-slip floor tape.
Oftentimes, floor marking in a warehouse is also used to draw attention to special locations. These include e.g. emergency exits, fire extinguishers and areas that call for extra caution, such as storage locations for hazardous substances or slippery surfaces.
The use of floor markings is mandatory according to international safety regulations and standards such as Directive 92/58/EEC within the European Union and OSHA, ANSI and NFSI in the United States.
Clarity
If you want to bring more clarity to your warehouse operations, proper floor marking is essential.
For your pallet racking and storage locations you use rack labels and location signs to make sure your employees do not have to search for the right location. You use floor marking in your warehouse with the same goal in mind.
With floor markings and line markings, you can mark walkways, crosswalks and delimit specific work areas, such as parking zones for transport equipment, inbound and outbound locations, storage locations and hazardous or restricted areas. This makes it easy for your employees to see at a glance where they need to be.
Do you use 5S techniques or a similar Lean methodology? Then make sure to incorporate floor marking into your entire warhouse marking system. By using proper and clear floor marking, you help create clarity and as you know, a well-organised working environment is a productive working environment.
Efficiency
Floor markings are a quick and effective tool for optimising your internal warehouse processes.
When your employees are able to clearly identify the different workspaces and specific areas in your warehouse, they can work both faster and more efficiently. They end up spending less time searching and can focus fully on the job at hand.
You use floor marking shapes - such as crosses (X-pieces), corner pieces (L-pieces) and dots, with or without floor tape - to signify workspaces, transport and pedestrian paths, and pallet storage locations. By using floor marking in various different colours, you will make the day-to-day work even easier for your employees.ย Colour-coded labels also contribute to greater warehouse efficiency.
You will find that the speed of the goods movement increases along with overall productivity while the likelihood of errors in goods receipt and delivery decreases.
What types of floor tape can you order?
When it comes to floor tape you have your choice between a smooth PVC floor tape and a non-slip PVC floor tape. The smooth floor tape is robust, abrasion-proof, less susceptible to dirt due to its smooth top layer, and quick to clean. The non-slip floor tape lives up to its name: the tape prevents slipping thanks to its non-slip top layer. The tape therefore not only contributes to an orderly working environment, but also contributes to your employeesโ safety. Like the smooth version, the non-slip floor tape is also very robust and hard-wearing.
The advantage of self-adhesive floor tape is that it is quick to install without any drying time, unlike painted floor lines. In addition, you can also quickly remove the tape again, if need be. Use our industrial cleaner to clean the floor and remove any glue residue. Combine the floor tape with various floor shape pieces to easily mark storage locations, workspaces, walkways and traffic lanes.
Advice on floor marking and floor tape
As mentioned earlier, installing floor marking and floor tape contributes to a safe, efficient and organised working environment. But with daiily use wear and tear is inevitable. Forklift trucks driving across the floor tape, pallets being scraped over the floor shapes will eventually cause your floor marking to become invisible or poorly visible.
We therefore recommend that you regularly check, clean and, if necessary, replace your warehouse floor marking and tape. This will ensure your employees can continue to do their work quickly and safely.
